Basically, the companies that make movies and music want to stop all piracy (stealing / copying of media online) so they paid a lot of money and pushed to get laws written to change the way the Internet would work. The movie and music people want to make it so THEY can take any website down without having to go to court and prove that a website violated any laws. So many websites have chosen today as the day to show how bad that would be. Feel free to learn more and get involved in any way you feel fit, today we are still going to have an assignment.
